Pick any color on your Mac screen
Color Picker samples any pixel on any display through a magnifier and gives you the color as HEX, rgb(), hsl() and OKLCH, plus ready-to-paste SwiftUI, NSColor and UIColor code and the nearest Tailwind color. It can also pull the main colors out of an image and check a text and background pair against the WCAG contrast rules. It uses the macOS color sampler, so it doesn't need screen recording permission.

How to use Color Picker
Open Color Picker and click Pick Color from Screen, or press Command-Shift-C while the tool is open.
Click any pixel in any app. Press Esc to cancel.
Click a format to copy it: HEX, RGB, HSL, OKLCH, SwiftUI, NSColor, UIColor or Tailwind. Turn on Include alpha for translucent colors.
Switch to Palette from Image to get an image's 5 to 8 main colors, or to Contrast to check text on a background.
Questions about Color Picker
How do I get the HEX code of a color on my Mac screen?
Open Color Picker, click Pick Color from Screen and click the pixel you want. Toolbox shows the HEX value next to the other formats, and one click copies it. The last 20 colors you pick or type stay in History.
Doesn't macOS already have a color picker?
macOS includes Digital Color Meter. Color Picker adds one-click copying in CSS and code formats, a history of recent colors, palettes taken from images and a contrast checker, in the same app as your other tools.
Can it check color contrast for accessibility?
Yes. In Contrast mode, set a text and a background color by typing them, picking them from the screen or choosing them from History. Toolbox shows the WCAG 2 contrast ratio and whether it passes AA and AAA for normal and large text.
Is it free, and does it upload anything?
Toolbox is a paid app, and one purchase includes every tool, with no subscription or account. Color Picker runs entirely on your Mac and doesn't record your screen, so nothing you pick from is captured or sent anywhere.
