No. Every tool runs on your Mac, including OCR, transcription, translation and background removal. Toolbox has no account, no analytics and no server to send files to. It only goes online when you ask it to: downloading a video from a link you paste, installing FFmpeg, or activating your licence.
FFmpeg is the open-source engine behind most video software. Toolbox uses it for the video and audio tools that macOS can’t do on its own, such as WebM, GIF and subtitle burn-in.
It isn’t bundled with the app. The first time a tool needs it, Toolbox offers to install it with Homebrew in one click, or you can point it at your own copy in Settings. PDF, image and intelligence tools don’t need it.
macOS 15 Sequoia or later. Summarize uses Apple Intelligence, so it needs macOS 26 Tahoe on a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on. Every other tool works on macOS 15. Toolbox follows your Light or Dark Mode setting, or you can pick one in Settings.
Into a new dated folder in your Downloads folder, one per run, so nothing is ever overwritten. Toolbox never changes the files you drop in. You can choose a different output folder in Settings.
