Create and read QR codes on your Mac

Toolbox makes QR codes for a link, any text or a Wi-Fi network, with your own colors and size, and exports them as an image or SVG. Switch to Read mode to decode QR codes and barcodes in images or screenshots without reaching for your phone.

Questions about QR Code

How do I make a QR code on a Mac?

Open QR Code in Create mode, choose Link, Text or Wi-Fi and enter the content. You can copy the image straight into a document or export it as SVG for print.

How do I scan a QR code on my Mac screen?

Take a screenshot of the code, then drop it into QR Code in Read mode. Toolbox lists every code it finds, and you can copy the content, open a link or copy a Wi-Fi password.

Can I make a QR code that joins a Wi-Fi network?

Yes. Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name, security type and password, and tick Hidden network if needed. Phones that scan it can join without typing the password.

Should I use SVG or PNG for a printed QR code?

SVG is better for print because it stays sharp at any size. For screens and messages, a copied image works fine.
