Encode and decode Base64 on your Mac
Base64 turns text or any file into Base64 and back. Turn on URL-Safe for Base64URL, as used in JWTs and URLs, or wrap lines at 64 or 76 characters for PEM and MIME. Decoding accepts standard and URL-safe Base64, with or without padding or a data: prefix, previews images and text, and points to the first character that isn't Base64.

How to use Base64
Open Base64 and choose Encode or Decode.
To encode, paste text or drop a file. Turn on URL-Safe or pick a Wrap width if you need them.
To decode, paste the Base64. Text appears right away, images are previewed, and anything else can be saved as a file.
Click Copy, Copy Data URI or Save File.
Questions about Base64
How do I decode Base64 on a Mac?
Paste the Base64 into Base64 in Decode mode. If it's text you see it at once, if it's an image you get a preview and its size, and anything else can be saved as a file. If the input is broken, Toolbox points to the character that's wrong.
How do I convert an image to Base64?
Switch to Encode and drop the image. Copy the Base64, or click Copy Data URI for a data:image string you can paste into HTML or CSS.
What's the difference between Base64 and Base64URL?
Base64URL uses - and _ instead of + and / and leaves out the = padding, so it's safe in URLs and file names. JWTs use it. Turn on URL-Safe to encode it; decoding accepts both.
Is it free, and is my data uploaded?
Toolbox is a paid app, and one purchase includes every tool, with no subscription or account. Encoding and decoding happen on your Mac, so keys, certificates and files never leave it.
