Why does Summarize say Apple Intelligence isn't available?

Summarize needs macOS 26 on a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence, and Apple Intelligence must be turned on in System Settings. If it was just enabled, macOS may still be downloading the model, so try again a little later.

Is my text sent to a server when I summarize it?

No. Toolbox uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models, so the text you summarize stays on your Mac.

What file types can I summarize?
