Blur or black out part of an image on your Mac
Redact Image covers whatever you drag over with a blur, a pixel mosaic or a solid black box. Find & Cover can add the regions for you: faces, lines of text, or lines that contain an email address, phone number or link. Every image keeps its format and full resolution, and location, camera and date details can be left out of the copy.

How to use Redact Image
Open Redact Image and drop one or more photos or screenshots onto the window.
Drag over anything you want hidden. Drag a region to move it, drag its edges to resize it, or press Delete to remove it.
Or use Find & Cover: Find Faces, Find Text or Find Emails, Phones & Links, on this image or on all of them. Found regions can be edited like your own.
Choose Blur, Pixelate or Black Box and a strength, then click Export Redacted. The copies go to a new dated folder in Downloads.
Questions about Redact Image
How do I blur part of a picture on a Mac?
Drop the picture into Redact Image, drag a box over the part you want to hide, pick Blur, Pixelate or Black Box and click Export Redacted. The covered pixels are replaced in the saved copy, and your original isn't changed.
Does Find Text hide only the words I want?
No, it covers whole lines. Find Text adds a region for every line of text it reads, and Find Emails, Phones & Links covers each whole line that contains one. To hide a single word, drag a box over it yourself or resize a found region to fit.
Is blurring enough to hide a name or a number?
Not always. Blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be made out, so use Black Box for names, account numbers, addresses and license plates.
Is it free, and are my photos uploaded?
Toolbox is a paid app, and one purchase includes every tool, with no subscription or account. Faces and text are found with Apple's Vision framework on your Mac, so your photos are never uploaded. Images without any regions are skipped rather than copied.
