Test your Mac's display for dead pixels
Dead Pixel Test fills every connected display with one solid colour at a time: black, white, red, green, blue, gray, cyan, magenta and yellow. Dead pixels show as dark dots on white, stuck pixels as coloured dots on black or another colour, and black also shows backlight bleed around the edges. A short tip on each colour says what to look for. It's worth running on a new Mac or monitor while you can still return it, and before buying a used one.

How to use Dead Pixel Test
Clean the screen first, since dust looks a lot like a dead pixel.
Open Dead Pixel Test and click Start Test.
Look closely at each colour, then click or press the right arrow for the next. Press H to hide the tip.
Press Esc when you're done.
Questions about Dead Pixel Test
How do I check a Mac for dead pixels?
Run Dead Pixel Test and look at each colour. On white, a dead pixel is a black dot. On black, red, green or blue, a stuck pixel is a dot of another colour. Turn the brightness up for the black test.
Does it test external monitors?
Yes. Every connected display shows the same colour at the same time.
Can it fix a stuck pixel?
No. It only helps you find one. If you find a dead or stuck pixel on a new display, contact the seller while it's still under warranty.
Is it free?
Toolbox is a paid app, and one purchase includes every tool, with no subscription or account.
