Get coordinates from Apple Maps on your Mac

Coordinate Picker puts Apple Maps on your Mac with a pin you can drop anywhere. Click the map or search for a place and you get its latitude and longitude, its address, and the same point in eight formats: decimal degrees, degrees minutes and seconds, decimal minutes, Apple Maps and Google Maps links, a geo: link, GeoJSON and WKT. Paste coordinates or a maps link to jump straight there. Measure mode shows the distance between two points, and Batch looks up a whole list of addresses or coordinates and gives you a CSV.

Questions about Coordinate Picker

How do I find the latitude and longitude of a place on a Mac?

Search for it or click it on the map in Coordinate Picker. The coordinates appear right away, ready to copy as decimal degrees like 37.8197, -122.4786 or in any of the other formats.

Can it convert between decimal and degrees, minutes and seconds?

Yes. Paste coordinates in either form, or a link from Apple Maps or Google Maps, and every format updates, including DMS like 37°49′11″N 122°28′43″W.

How do I measure the distance between two places?

Turn on the ruler, click the start and then the end. Coordinate Picker draws the line and shows the straight-line distance over the Earth's curve, in kilometres or miles depending on your Mac's settings.

Can I geocode a list of addresses?

Yes. Batch takes one address or place per line and returns its coordinates, or one pair of coordinates per line and returns its address, as CSV you can copy or save. Apple limits how fast lookups can go, so a long list takes a while.

Is it free, and is my location shared?

Toolbox is a paid app, and one purchase includes every tool, with no subscription or account. Map tiles, searches and addresses come from Apple Maps, so what you search for is sent to Apple. Toolbox only uses your location when you click My Location, and never stores or sends it.
