Clean tracking out of links on your Mac

Links you copy from newsletters, social apps and search results are often twice as long as they need to be, padded with tracking codes like utm_source, fbclid and gclid. Clean Links removes them and leaves everything else in the address exactly as it was. It also unwraps redirect links from Google, Facebook, Instagram, Outlook and LinkedIn to the page they actually point to. Turn on Clean links when I copy and every link you copy anywhere on your Mac is cleaned before you paste it.

Questions about Clean Links

Which tracking parameters does it remove?

About a hundred, including every utm_ parameter, fbclid, gclid, msclkid, Mailchimp and HubSpot codes, Instagram and TikTok share codes, and Amazon's pd_rd and pf_rd parameters. Parameters that only mean tracking on some sites, like si on YouTube and Spotify, are removed only there, so a shop's own search or size options keep working.

Will a cleaned link still work?

Yes. Only tracking parameters are taken out. The page, the search query, product options and anything else the site needs stay exactly as they were, including how they were encoded.

What does unwrapping a redirect mean?

Links from Google results, Facebook, Instagram, Outlook Safe Links and others often point to the service first, which then forwards you on. Clean Links reads the real destination out of the link, gives you that instead, and cleans its tracking too.

How does cleaning on copy work?

While Toolbox is running, it notices when you copy text that is only links, swaps it for the clean version, and leaves anything else you copy alone. You can switch it off in Clean Links at any time.

Is it free, and are my links uploaded?

Toolbox is a paid app, and one purchase includes every tool, with no subscription or account. Links are cleaned on your Mac and never sent anywhere.
