Generate UUIDs on your Mac
UUID Generator makes random version 4 UUIDs or time-ordered version 7 UUIDs (RFC 9562), from one to 10,000 at a time, in lowercase or uppercase, with or without hyphens. Paste any UUID or GUID into Inspect to see its version, its variant and, for v1, v6 and v7, when it was made.

How to use UUID Generator
Open UUID Generator and pick v4 or v7.
Set the Count, and turn Uppercase and Hyphens on or off.
Click Copy All, or press Command-R to make a new set.
Paste any UUID into Inspect to read its version, variant and timestamp.
Questions about UUID Generator
Should I use UUID v4 or v7?
v4 is fully random. v7 starts with a timestamp, so new IDs sort after older ones, which keeps database indexes tidy. Both are unique for any practical purpose.
Can I make many UUIDs at once?
Yes, up to 10,000 at a time, one per line, ready to paste into a spreadsheet, a test fixture or a SQL script.
How do I find out when a UUID was created?
Paste it into Inspect. Version 1, 6 and 7 UUIDs carry a timestamp, which Toolbox shows as a date. Version 4 UUIDs are random and contain no time.
Is it free, and does it go online?
Toolbox is a paid app, and one purchase includes every tool, with no subscription or account. UUIDs are made on your Mac, with no network connection needed.
