See it in action

These are the real windows, captured from the app. Each tool opens on its own screen with only the settings it needs.

  1. Download VideoVideo

Save the video itself, not a screen recording

Paste links from YouTube, X, TikTok, Instagram, Vimeo and many other sites. Choose Best Quality, 1080p, 720p or audio only, and the original file lands in your Downloads folder.

  2. Beautify ScreenshotImages

Screenshots that are ready to post

Set a screenshot on a gradient, a solid color or an image of your own, then adjust padding, corner radius and shadow. Pick 16:9 for X or 4:5 for Instagram and save a PNG at full resolution.

  3. Remove BackgroundImages

Lift the subject out of a photo

Apple’s Vision framework finds the subject on your Mac and saves it as a PNG with a transparent, white or custom color background. Drop a whole folder and crop each result to the subject.

  4. Redact PDFDocs

Redaction that removes the text for good

A black box in most PDF apps only covers the words. Redact PDF flattens each redacted page so the text underneath no longer exists, and strips the file’s metadata. Drag boxes by hand or redact every match of a word.

  6. TranscribeText & Speech

Transcripts that never leave your Mac

Drop in an audio or video file and get what was said, with a timestamp for each segment. Speech recognition runs on device, and you can export plain text, timestamped text or SRT subtitles.

  7. Storage ExplorerMac

Find out what is filling your disk

Space Hogs checks the usual suspects: Xcode caches, iOS simulators, iPhone backups, app caches and old Downloads. Anything you remove goes to the Trash, so you can still change your mind.

  8. Network Speed TestMac

A speed test without a browser tab

Toolbox runs networkQuality, the network test Apple builds into macOS, and shows download, upload and responsiveness. Every run is saved to a history, so you can compare rooms or times of day.

Toolbox

Price ranges are rough, change over time and vary by app, and some good options are free. A dedicated app can go further than a single Toolbox tool. Most people need the everyday version of each job, and Toolbox covers those for one price.

All 96 tools

Everything included in one purchase, including the 2 tools new in Toolbox 1.4.4. Pick a tool to see what it does and how it works.

Private by design

Online converters ask for your files first. Toolbox does the same jobs offline.

Processed on this Mac

Compression, OCR, transcription, background removal, translation and every Mac utility run locally. Your files never go to a server.

No account

Nothing to sign up for or log in to. The app has no analytics and no tracking SDKs.

Originals untouched

Toolbox only writes new files. Each run gets its own dated folder in Downloads.

Permissions, explained first

Toolbox asks only when a tool needs something, and says why before macOS shows its prompt.

  • Screen RecordingOnly for Record Screen, and only while you record.
  • MicrophoneOnly for Record Audio and voice-over in screen recordings.
  • Speech RecognitionFor on-device Transcribe and automatic subtitles.
  • LocationFor Wi-Fi Password & QR, so macOS reveals the network’s name, and Coordinate Picker’s My Location. Never stored or sent.
  • Downloads folderTo save results. You can pick another folder in Settings.

Toolbox goes online only for Download Video (the link you give it), installing FFmpeg with Homebrew, Network Speed Test (Apple’s networkQuality servers), Coordinate Picker (Apple Maps) and license activation, plus a quiet weekly license check that sends only your license key and activation ID to Dodo Payments. Nothing else leaves your Mac.

Toolbox’s own explanation before macOS asks for Downloads access: it saves results to a new dated folder and never reads or changes your other downloads.Toolbox’s own explanation before macOS asks for Downloads access: it saves results to a new dated folder and never reads or changes your other downloads.

The app

What’s new in Toolbox 1.4.4?

Toolbox now speaks Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified) and Korean. Team licenses cover 10, 25 or 50 Macs with one key, and you can send feedback or report a bug right from the app. Toolbox 1.4.4 added 2 tools, free for everyone who already has Toolbox: Crop PDF and Organize Downloads. Clean Links can also clean every link you copy, Coordinate Picker measures distances and looks up whole lists of addresses, and Clean Keyboard can turn your screens black so you can wipe them at the same time.

Which languages does Toolbox support?

English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified) and Korean. Toolbox follows your Mac’s language, or you can pick one just for Toolbox in System Settings › General › Language & Region › Applications.

What is FFmpeg and why do the video tools need it?

FFmpeg is the open-source engine behind most video software. Toolbox uses it for the video and audio tools that macOS can’t do on its own, such as WebM, GIF and subtitle burn-in.

It isn’t bundled with the app. The first time a tool needs it, Toolbox offers to install it with Homebrew in one click, or you can point it at your own copy in Settings. Docs, image, Text & Speech, file, developer and Mac tools don’t need it, apart from MP3 export in Text to Speech.

What’s in the Mac category?

16 everyday utilities: Storage Explorer, Uninstall App, Keep Awake, Display Control for external monitors, Battery Health, Wi-Fi Password & QR, Network Speed Test, Login & Background Items, Hidden Settings and more. See all Mac utilities.

What do I need to run Toolbox?

macOS 15 Sequoia or later. Summarize and Ask a Document use Apple Intelligence, so they need macOS 26 Tahoe on a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on. Every other tool works on macOS 15. Toolbox follows your Light or Dark Mode setting, or you can pick one in Settings.

Where do my results go?

Into a new dated folder in your Downloads folder, one per run, so nothing is ever overwritten. Toolbox never changes the files you drop in. You can choose a different output folder in Settings.

Does it slow my Mac down?

Toolbox does its work on your Mac, so a heavy job such as compressing a video or transcribing audio uses your Mac’s processor while it runs. For video there is a hardware encoder option for more speed. Your results go to a new folder and the files you drop in are never changed.

Buying

Can I buy Toolbox for my team?

Yes. Team licenses cover 10, 25 or 50 Macs with a single key that each person activates on their Mac. Pick Team in pricing, or email support@mactoolbox.app for more than 50 Macs or an invoice.

How do I activate my license?
  1. After checkout, your license key arrives by email from Dodo Payments, our payment partner. It is also shown on the thank-you page.
  2. Download Toolbox, drag it to Applications and open it.
  3. Toolbox asks for your license the first time it opens. Paste the key and click Activate.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?

Yes. One license covers your own Macs, up to the limit listed under Pricing. To move it to a new Mac, deactivate it on the old one in Toolbox › Settings › License. If you’ve lost access to an old Mac, email support@mactoolbox.app and we’ll reset it.

What if it isn’t right for me?

Email support@mactoolbox.app within 7 days of buying and we’ll refund you in full. No forms, no questions. Refund policy

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once and every future update is free, for life. Payments, invoices and sales tax are handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record.

Is the price the same in every country?

No. Toolbox costs less where incomes are lower, from 40% of the price, based on where your billing address is. Checkout shows it in your local currency, and the license is the same everywhere.

Privacy

Does anything get uploaded?

No. Every tool runs on your Mac, including OCR, transcription, translation and background removal. Toolbox has no account, no analytics and no server to send files to. It goes online only for Download Video (the link you paste), installing FFmpeg with Homebrew, Network Speed Test (which uses Apple’s networkQuality servers), Coordinate Picker (which uses Apple Maps) and license activation. After that, a quiet weekly license check sends only your license key and activation ID to Dodo Payments. Nothing else leaves your Mac.

Why does Toolbox ask for my location?

macOS only reveals the name of the Wi-Fi network you’re on to apps with Location permission, so Wi-Fi Password & QR asks for it to read the network name. Coordinate Picker uses it only when you click My Location, to drop a pin where you are. Toolbox never stores or sends your location.

Does it work offline?

Yes, after you activate your license. Every tool runs on your Mac. The few that go online are Download Video, installing FFmpeg with Homebrew, Network Speed Test, Coordinate Picker and the quiet weekly license check.
